Viability Assessments

Financial viability is a material consideration of the planning system. The capacity to deliver appropriate infrastructure is inextricably linked to the delivery of development and whilst the planning process is about more than just financial viability, the deliverability of a proposed development can be compromised by the scale of required planning obligations and/or other significant costs.
In such cases a viability assessment can be undertaken to establish at what level planning gain contributions are fair, enabling the development to be undertaken whilst also offering sufficient incentive for the landowner to sell the site for development.
